Every pet food brand we review is held to these four absolute standards. No exceptions, no excuses.

1. Total Protein Transparency

We demand complete protein disclosure with named animal sources. "Meat meal" or "poultry by-products" aren't good enough. If a brand can't tell us exactly what animal the protein comes from, they fail this standard immediately.

2. No Ingredient Splitting

Ingredient splitting is when brands break one ingredient into multiple forms to push it down the ingredient list. For example, listing "corn," "corn gluten meal," and "ground corn" separately instead of just "corn." We catch this trick every time.

3. Zero Controversial Synthetic Additives

No BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, or artificial colors. These preservatives and dyes have questionable safety profiles and no nutritional benefit. If we see them, the brand gets roasted.

4. Complete Sourcing Accountability

Brands must disclose where their ingredients come from. Vague claims like "globally sourced" or "premium ingredients" don't cut it. We want to know the country of origin for major protein sources and whether manufacturing happens in-house or at a contract facility.

Why These Standards?

These aren't arbitrary rules. They're based on what actually matters for your dog's health and safety. Transparency prevents recalls, quality ingredients improve nutrition, and accountability keeps brands honest.
